Dr. Patrica Magle Named Chief Medical Offier

Dr. Patricia Magle has been selected as Medical Director of the Community Health Centers of Southern Iowa (CHCSI).  She officially begins her employment on April 1st when the CHCSI opens its doors to the community with its first clinic site in Leon.

Dr. Magle brings with her a true commitment to healthcare and her patients.   For the past 21 years, Dr. Magle has practiced in Decatur County.  She has worked in general medicine, obstetrics, pediatrics, college health, and sports medicine.  In addition, she has assisted in surgery and provided emergency medical care at Decatur County Hospital.  Currently serving as the Hospital’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Magle also has been actively involved in its quality improvement committee.

Her commitment to the Decatur County community is evident by the generous giving of her time.  She is a charter member of the Healthcare Development of Lamoni which was instrumental in the development of the medical complex in Lamoni, member of the Decatur County Board of Health which included a term as Chairperson, Medical Director of the First Responders of Lamoni, and preceptor for the University of Iowa’s Family Practice Residency program.  Dr. Magle has been a guest lecturer for community groups and school classes and twice shared her skills as a medical team member in Honduras.

Dr.  Magle received her undergraduate degree and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan completing her three year residency program at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois.  Board certified in family practice, she is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice, American Medical Association, Iowa Academy of Family Practice, Iowa State Medical Association, and National Rural Health Association.

“It is a pleasure for me to work with someone the caliber of Dr. Magle,” said Gary Rees, Chief Executive Officer of the CHCSI.  “Her strength of medical knowledge and skill is only matched by the strength of her concern and compassion for her patients.  What a combination that is.”

“For me, this is the culmination of dream come true – not just for me, but for the many who have worked so hard to make the Community Health Center a reality,” Dr. Magle said.  “What we will be able to accomplish is special.  I look forward to being able to continue reaching out to my current patients and to the many others who need healthcare but cannot afford it.”
