Senator Harkin to Visit Community Health Centers
The Community Health Centers of Southern Iowa (CHCSI) hosted an appreciation reception for Senator Tom Harkin on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at its Leon Practice Site, 302 NE 14 th Street. Senator Harkin will make comments during the reception.
“Senator Harkin has been instrumental in making the Community Health Centers of Southern Iowa a reality,” Gary Rees, CEO, stated. “In addition to annual funding, he has been able to secure additional resources for capital expenses.” Most recently Senator Harkin secured $3.8 million for renovation and expansion of Iowa community health centers and has obtained over $15 million totally for CHC’s in the past. “Without Senator Harkin, we wouldn’t be able to provide services to our community,” Rees added.
As well as recognizing Senator Harkin for all he has done for the Community Health Centers of Southern Iowa and throughout Iowa, CHCSI will also acknowledge many organizations and individuals who have played a part in its success.
“The appreciation reception is open to the public,” Rees indicated. “ I hope there is a great turn out for the Senator. We have a lot of reasons to thank him.”
