Community Health Centers of Southern Iowa Moves to Ackerley
Dr. Patricia Magle and the Community Health Centers of Southern Iowa (CHCSI) staff moved from 911 E. Main Street in Lamoni to 802 Ackerley Street sharing space with Dr. Mark Easter and the staff of Decatur Medical Services. This move is another step in integrating the two practices – a process that began over a year ago when both organizations signed an agreement to merge.
The Ackerley practice site came about as a result of a community sponsored organization, Healthcare Development of Lamoni (HDL), stepping forward and raising funds locally to build a modern clinic. In June of 1999, this facility opened and started providing healthcare services to the people of Decatur County and surrounding areas.
“It is good to be practicing at the Ackerley site again,” Dr. Magle said, “and we were very busy on our first day. Patients seemed happy to have us back.”
“I indicated last year when we signed the agreement with Decatur Medical Services to merge that it can sometimes be a lengthy process as the Federal government, Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance carriers are involved. I never thought it would take this long, but we never gave up on this objective,” said Gary Rees, CEO of CHCSI, “and coming together in Lamoni serves to tell the community that we are moving forward in making that happen.”
